Leather Swatch
We have 3 types of leather. Lamb, Cow/Goat. Cow or Goat is slightly more expensive than lamb. We source the leather from tanneries in Indonesia that only use hides that are a bi product of meat production. No animals have been slaughtered for their hides, making this more sustainable as the hide would have been wasted. Please choose two options from this swatch in case we can not source your first choice. See below for more information .

Lining Swatch
We have 3 types of lining. Plain, Premium & Patterned. Only Patterned lining has an additional charge. Plain is cotton poplin and premium is thicker heavy duty canvas-like cotton. We recommend the premium for Cow leather bags. We use natural materials. We want the lining to last as long as the leather. Standard is two open pockets & one long zipped pocket in our bags but you can add more or less as you choose.

Patterned Lining
For a bit of fun, we have a swatch of patterned lining, giving a totally different look to the inside of your bag. Many of our customers match the lining to the bag or love a contrasting look. To keep the prices reasonable we allow this as an additional extra. If you choose patterned lining please give us two options and the price will be amended to include $12AUD charge. Which leather to choose?
Creating your own custom made handbag is exciting. We have lots of options that allow you to make it unique and yours alone. Choose leather is one of the considerations you need to make. We have 3 types Lambskin, Cow or Goat leather. Let’s discuss the differences.
Lambskin - It’s soft, it’s supple and it behaves like fabric. It’s perfect for those slouchy, curvy bags with folds etc. It’s lightweight and quite durable. It comes in lots of various colours with different effects like perforation, antique look etc. We source it from tanneries that salvage the leather from meat by-products so the hides are saved. In the lighter colours, it is prone to marking from denim and scuffs. The top layer of the leather can rub away with lots of use and over time. It’s ideal for cushion covers and accessories. You can expect to have a lambskin bag last around 5 years or longer if you use it occasionally. ( We have had some that have lasted 20 years with no signs of deterioration)
Goat Leather - Goat leather is super strong. Thicker than lambskin but thinner than cow leather it really is a durable material. On the surface, it has more texture, variations and signs that it is genuine leather than the smoother lambskin. It wears nicely and over time gets a lovely patina that makes it softer but still keeps its strength. It is not available in a huge variety of colours but is definitely worth considering especially if your bag needs to last or carry heavier items. Our goat & cow are priced together. Expect to have a goat leather bag around 8-15 years with good care.
Cow Leather - The thickest leather that we offer. We have an excellent selection of quality, genuine cow leathers that make excellent long-wearing handbags. We do not use thick rawhide or full-grain leather which is usually used for furniture. Our cow leather is selected for its suppleness for handbags. Most have beautiful textures and keep their shape really well. You can expect to have a cow leather bag for 12-20 years depending on the treatment and if it is regularly conditioned and looked after. It’s perfect for backpacks, baby bags or bags that need to work extra hard or carry heavy items. Team it up with a premium lining to ensure that you have your bag for many many years to come.
